The Golden Lion is located in the beautiful historic village of Corbridge, Northumberland. It was originally built as a Stabling Inn in the 18th century. Nice warm friendly welcome. Good range of beers and nice food well cooked. Glad we live in walking distance.
My visit was for an early evening meal following recommendations and the upgrade since the recent change in ownership. We were a party of three who enjoyed our meal on a cold windy January evening in warm surrounding made all the better with the open fire.
Went for dinner with Mum and friends on Tuesday night. Adrian, Pam and family took the place over on November. I hadn’t had a chance to go before but Mum has been evangelising about it since day one so expectations were high! Needless to say it was great. A Tuesday in January so naturally quiet but cozy (obligatory wood burner) with a great atmosphere. Food lovely with a short, simple menu covering all the bases and clearly freshly cooked with care from local ingredients (not out of a box and into the microwave!). If you ever visited the Golden Lion under its previous management, or felt it wasn’t for you, I’d really encourage you to give it a go - regardless of whether it’s for a bite to eat or pint. They’re a dedicated family team who deserve every bit of the success I know will come. Will add some photos soon. (Rooms being added later in 2024.)
Had the freshest fish ever beautifully cooked and served with a smile from Adrian, Pam, Lauren and the team! Will definitely be back and thoroughly recommend this for great pub food in a lovely village!! We are lucky to have it!
The Golden Lion has reopened under new management. Adrian and his family are doing a great job. Negative reviews concern previous management and don't reflect what's on offer now. It's a lovely, welcoming place. And Corbridge at Christmas is a great place to be.
